Zelensky bets that the reconstruction of Ukraine will serve to make the country "the freest in Europe"

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has bet this Friday that the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war will serve to make the country "the freest, most modern and safest in Europe", and specifically in terms of caring for the environment, stressing that these changes must be made from "now".

"Ukraine should become the freest, most modern and safest country in Europe, in every sense of the word, in particular as regards the state of our environment. I am sure we will do it," said the Ukrainian president in his daily message to the Ukrainian population.

Likewise, Zelenski has emphasized changing the projection of the future when talking about the reconstruction of Ukraine: "It is not only about what we must do after our victory or in the following years, but also what we must do now" .

In this sense, the President of Ukraine has pointed out that "the reconstruction of our State is not only the restoration of the walls we had", and has underlined the importance of preparing schools and universities for the next academic year.

"We must already prepare for the winter and do everything possible so that we spend this winter calmly from an energy point of view, despite the threats that Russia creates every day," added the Ukrainian head of state.

On the other hand, Zelenski has detailed that part of the reconstruction of the country involves guaranteeing social benefits, "despite a decrease in tax revenue, for the "thousands of companies" that have had to close after the Russian invasion of the country.

"And this also means the need for colossal funds for the restoration of infrastructure, for the return of medicine and social services, for the restoration of normal economic life. There are tens of thousands of houses destroyed in the liberated areas alone." Zelensky added.
