Zelensky applauds the cap on the price of Russian oil and calls for it to be extended to gas

MADRID, 2 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has applauded the consensus of the G7 and the EU to impose a maximum price on oil from Russia, but now he hopes that this measure will also be extended to gas.

Zelensky said in his evening speech that the oil price cap will, once it is in force, be "an important element in protecting civilized countries and energy markets from Russia's hybrid aggression."

However, according to Zelensky, "the price of gas must also be limited." The Ukrainian president has thanked the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, for speaking this Friday in favor of this idea.

Zelenski has stressed that the sanctions will contribute not only to stopping the flow of money to Moscow, but also to "restoring justice for all Europeans" against the "blackmail" of a Russia that would be inflating prices in an "artificial" way.
