Visa and Pecunpay launch Visa Direct to make it easy to send and receive instant money between people

MADRID, 18 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Visa and the Spanish fintech Pecunpay have announced the launch of Visa Direct, a new solution that will allow Pecunpay customers to send and receive money instantly from person to person.

This solution, which will be available soon, can be used by consumers not only in Spain, but also in the European Economic Area (EEA) thanks to Visa's global network and Pecunpay's license.

"This new solution comes at a time when consumers are increasingly turning to digital payments and demanding new methods and devices for sending and receiving their money," they explained from Visa. According to data from both companies, almost 40% of Spaniards admit to having used their mobile to pay on at least one occasion.

In this context, Visa constantly innovates in order to make new and future payment methods and channels "better" and "more accessible to all", thus facilitating new flows of money movement to connect consumers.

Among the main advantages of Visa Direct, its instantaneousness stands out, since it allows the movement of money between two people in an agile and simple way, and security, as it has the support of the Visa network and technology.

Pecunpay customers will find the new Visa Direct functionality within the banking application itself. To make the shipment, they will only have to fill out a form by entering the 16 numbers of the card to which they want to make the shipment and accept the transaction.

The general director of Visa in Spain, Eduardo Prieto, has expressed that Visa Direct is "an example" that Visa is at the forefront in the development of innovative technology. "We are very proud to launch this new solution in Spain hand in hand with a disruptive partner like Pecunpay", he highlighted.

For his part, the CEO of Pecunpay, Antonio García Cruz, has pointed out as "a very important step" the incorporation of this Visa instant money transfer solution within its commercial strategy. The Spanish fintech will be the first company to provide the person-to-person Visa Direct service in Spain, thus joining 70 other financial institutions in Europe that already have this platform.
