United We Can warns that they will "monitor" that the PSOE does not unilaterally increase defense spending

MADRID, 4 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, warned this Tuesday that they will remain vigilant about decisions to increase defense spending that the PSOE may take. “It is something that we are going to have to watch over,” he has sentenced.

This is how Echenique has stated in an interview with RNE, collected by Europa Press, in which when asked about the defense spending negotiated in the General State Budgets (PGE) he has transferred that there is an agreement so that this area does not enter the ceiling of expense.

However, given that the PSOE "has already made unilateral increases," the party's spokesman in Congress has insisted that they will have to monitor their actions regarding the defense budget. Likewise, he has explained that they will analyze this issue as soon as they can see the text in detail and it is taken to Parliament.

Likewise, Echenique has stressed that in the same way that the party led by Pedro Sánchez "is clear about it", Podemos "is also clear about it, but in the opposite position". That is why he has reiterated that every euro spent on weapons is not intended to protect a family in a difficult situation and, in his words, that should be the priority.

As for the processing of the housing law, which is not included in the negotiations of the PGE as Echenique himself has revealed, he has branded as "inadmissible" from the social point of view that the law be paralyzed for longer.

In this sense, he has criticized the fact that the PSOE finds it difficult to "have a strong hand" with speculators in the real estate market and has recalled that the housing bill is the biggest bill for families. For this reason, he has advocated intervening in mortgages and rents.

"It will have to be done because it is a problem of great magnitude", he said, while expressing his intention to continue insisting on the advancement of this law because "housing is a basic necessity and a human right".

Echenique has emphasized that as a spokesperson in Congress he is going to work so that the budgets "do not get stuck" in the negotiations for their approval in the Chambers, although he has admitted that "negotiation is always complex" and has valued that Podemos has always brought forward.

Finally, he recalled the political stability that they have achieved by agreeing during the years of the coalition government's legislature with "what we call the progressive and multinational majority". "From United We Can we are going to work everything that is necessary to maintain that base and that stability," she added.
