United We Can asks to recognize and support the energy communities with aid and incentives

MADRID, 25 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

United We Can has demanded from the Third Vice President and Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, the regulatory recognition of non-profit energy cooperatives, facilities for their constitution and support measures such as specific aid plans or tax incentives.

All this in a non-law proposal registered in Congress, to which Europa Press has had access, in which they propose the European transposition that regulates this figure, as well as several legal modifications that facilitate its development.

This is the case of the Law on Cooperatives, where they ask to recognize this type of cooperative among the recognized classes or the Law on the fiscal regime of cooperatives, to consider them specially protected.

Likewise, they propose prioritizing them in state plans for energy production, distribution and consumption with a specific budget allocation for aid and support programs, and the preparation by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition of a support plan, in collaboration with the autonomous communities.

Energy cooperatives, explains United We Can in their initiative, are organized around entities, public or private, from a nearby environment to provide energy services --production, distribution, consumption-- from renewable sources to their members or to a community local.

In addition to facilitating "fair and affordable access" to energy by a community, they argue that it also represents an opportunity for investment and income generation for a local economy and advocates for citizen empowerment and participation, with decision-making democracy in the production, distribution and consumption of energy.
