MADRID, 4 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Spain, in collaboration with those of Germany, Australia and Canada, has launched the contest 'Ambassador for a day' so that girls between 14 and 18 years old can aspire to this task and whose objective is last "promote female leadership among the youngest".

As explained by the British Embassy in a statement, a total of five girls will be able to be ambassadors for one day and see what diplomacy consists of, carrying out various activities. The winners of the contest will be invited by the four participating embassies to spend the day between next February and March.

To qualify for the prize, the participants will have to answer the question: "Tell us about a social problem that affects your neighbourhood/city/town and how you could contribute to the solution". Your written texts, in Spanish or English, must be submitted before November 25. Embassy representatives will review the responses and announce the winners in December.

The award includes a presentation meeting with diplomatic representatives from the embassies of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Germany, whom they will be able to accompany for a day and learn what their work consists of.

In addition, the winners will receive sessions on interpersonal skills and best practices in diplomacy and communication and will have the opportunity to meet other representatives of the embassy to see the activities in which a diplomat participates. The travel and accommodation expenses of the winners and their companion will be covered if necessary.

"The aim of the competition is to bring the world of diplomacy, traditionally dominated by men, closer to young women and to become agents of change from an early age," explained the British Embassy.

"To do this, they are encouraged to give their opinions on the problems that affect their neighborhoods, cities or towns throughout Spain, playing an active role in bringing about positive change," he added.
