The unions call several strike days in July and August at the Repsol petrochemical complexes

They ask to update salaries with the CPI and improvements in conciliation, among other aspects

MADRID, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The CCOO, UGT and Workers Union (STR) unions have called several days of strike for the months of July and August at the Repsol petrochemical complexes, to which USO has also joined, as reported by this union in a statement.

Specifically, the strike has been called for the next July 15, 16 and 17 and August 13, 14 and 15, as reported by USO, which has appealed to the need to go "further" to achieve the objectives , which go through not losing purchasing power in wages and recovering other labor rights "decreased in recent years."

The general secretary of the trade union section of USO in the Repsol Group, Juan Cerrillo, has indicated in a statement that it is "essential" to guarantee the wage increase in accordance with inflation for the workers of all the group's companies, as has already been included in article 79 of the collective agreement of Repsol Petróleo, details the organization.

"There are no excuses for crisis and pandemic in this sector. Repsol is at historical maximum profits, of 2,500 million euros in 2021 and almost 1,400 in the first half of 2022 alone. We are not willing for Repsol to take advantage of its workers with offers ridiculous in which not even a millionth part of that benefit is passed on", warned the Secretary of Union Action of the USO Industry Federation, Raúl Montoya.

From the union they consider that "with that volume of benefits" a wage increase linked to inflation "is derisory in terms of business spending."

"We are talking about a retroactive 6.5% on 2021 salaries and, although the end of 2022 is uncertain, we already endure inflation of 10.2%, so the increase must be offered accordingly. Workers have been with their frozen wages," laments the USO Industry Federation.

Beyond salary increases, other reasons for calling the strike are the "lack of regulation of conciliation, the harmful application of teleworking and a null application of digital disconnection", Cerrillo has emphasized.
