MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The United Nations Security Council will hold a briefing on the situation in Afghanistan this coming Monday, one year after the Taliban conquest of the country.

The meeting, confirmed by the charge d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the UN, Nasir Ahmad Faiq, will be held at the request of Russia and will cover the humanitarian and economic situation in Afghanistan, confirms Tolo News.

The Taliban have welcomed this meeting as "anything that benefits the people of Afghanistan."

"We applaud any meeting in which the problems of this country are discussed," said the deputy spokesman for the fundamentalist movement, Bilal Karimi.
