The Taliban anticipate an agreement with Russia to import more gas and oil

MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The authorities of Russia and Afghanistan have sealed advances for the purchase of more oil and gas, according to the Taliban regime, which anticipates that the final agreement will soon be signed that would open a new market for Russian industry.

The Afghan Trade and Industry Minister, Nooruddin Azizi, who recently visited Russia, explained that the technical teams are still in this country to finalize the details of the imminent agreement, taking into account, for example, international sanctions.

The minister has said that since most Russian and Afghan banks are subject to sanctions, the transfers will likely be made through a third country that he has not specified, according to Tolo News.

Afghanistan already imports most of its food and oil from Russia, with bilateral trade amounting to $200 million a year, according to official statistics. The exchange has been reduced in recent months, marked by the rise of the Taliban to power and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
