The PP says that Sánchez has given "the measure of his international featherweight" in Rabat and sees it "difficult to make a fool of himself"

Bendodo asks Sánchez to "assume his mistake" with the "yes is yes" law, apologize to the victims and dismiss the Minister of Equality

MADRID, 2 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has assured this Thursday that the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, has given the "measure of his international featherweight" in Rabat, after King Mohamed VI did not receive him on the occasion of the High Level Summit (RAN) with Morocco. In his opinion, it is "difficult to make more ridiculous."

In a press conference at the PP headquarters to present the party's pre-campaign motto, 'Spain among all', Bendodo criticized the fact that the Government had attended that summit with Morocco, a "half party", in the absence of Podemos ministers in Rabat.

"We have been able to verify how Sánchez has given the measure of his international featherweight at the summit with Morocco. Half of his own government stands by him and does not go, and King Mohamed VI dispatches him by telephone," he stated, to sentence : "It's hard to be more ridiculous."

Bendodo has assured that the PP "is not happy" about what happened because "in the end" when the Government is going to meet with another country, "all Spaniards" are interested in Spain "looking good", and not giving a " image of weakness".

However, the general coordinator of the PP considers that, with Mohamed VI's refusal to receive Sánchez, Spain "has given an image of weakness because of the way President Sánchez and half of his government manage."

For all this, the 'number three' of the PP has ensured that "changing this Sanchista drift is a necessity" that implies "a collective effort" between the town halls, councils or autonomous communities under the motto "Spain among all" that has chosen its match for these pre-campaign months.

On the other hand, the general coordinator of the PP has assured that Alberto Núñez Feijóo will meet this weekend at the 26th Inter-municipal meeting that the party celebrates in Valencia with the former presidents of the Government, José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy. When asked about the absence of Pablo Casado, he pointed out that what the party is looking for in this conclave is to talk about the past and future management of the PP government.

In addition, in this forum, former PP women mayors such as Luisa Fernanda Rudi, Teófila Martínez, Celia Villalobos, Soledad Becerril or Rita Barberá will be given prominence (in the latter case the party will project a video in tribute to the former Valencian mayor).

"We are going to recognize the role of municipalism carried out by the women of the PP from the year 95 until now with our new candidates and mayoress for the elections of May 2023", he explained, adding that the PP seeks to "restore the illusion" to people.

Bendodo has valued three aspects that, in his opinion, define his party: management, humility and moderation. In his opinion, the PP "unlike the PSOE is a managing party" and has acted with "humility" in the face of the "arrogance" of "sanchismo", which has "broken the bridges with the main opposition party".

As an example of that "arrogance" he has cited what happened with the so-called 'only yes is yes' law by "not recognizing the error" and the "botch" that this rule entails. In his opinion, the Government is now seeking to change this law due to its "free fall in the polls" but not to "protect women." "A self-proclaimed feminist government is the one that has done the most damage to the security of women in a democracy," she emphasized.

In addition, he has stressed that "the fault of this law" is not Irene Montero's but Pedro Sánchez's, who "endorsed it and did not rectify it", assuring that Podemos "is not a party to govern but to protest".

Bendodo has asked Sánchez to "assume his mistake" for endorsing the rule, to apologize to the victims for the irreparable damage "that this reduction in sentences for sexual offenders has caused, and to dismiss the Minister of Equality because "she does not He has another way out to justify this error" after allowing this "outrage" and legal "botch". In addition, she has asked him not to waste "one more minute in changing the law" and has offered him the votes of the PP to do it urgently.

Finally, he pointed out that, although municipal and regional elections are being held on May 28, Sánchez's steps give an "image of nationalization" of the campaign that in the end "will also be general ones" because there will be 8,000 ballot boxes in the towns and cities where the citizens will be able to pronounce themselves and "say yes or no to the drift" of the President of the Government.

"The PP intends that the first resounding no be given to Sánchez, the no to arrogance, improvisation and arrogance", he emphasized, adding that the chief executive has "began to lose the street" and when that happens "then they fire you at the polls."
