Bendodo points out that they will elect the candidates for provincial capitals before the end of the year but the presentation ceremony will be in January

The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has assured this Monday that the Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN) is his "priority interlocutor" to reach an agreement before the electoral appointments of 2023, but he has stressed that the PP is going to "talk with everybody".

The Navarrese PP elected Javier García this Sunday as the new president of the party with 97.2% of the votes, a congress that included the intervention of the national president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The event was attended by representatives of UPN, including its president, Javier Esparza, and deputies Carlos García Adanero and Sergio Sayas, suspended from UPN militancy after violating the party's guidelines in the vote on the labor reform.

In a press conference at the PP headquarters, after the meeting of the party's management committee chaired by Núñez Feijóo, Bendodo indicated that the PP, now that it has a renewed structure in Navarra, "has to clearly address the strategy before the regional and municipal elections.

"UPN has always been a priority partner for the PP. And it is not that we are going to start talking, it is that we have been talking in recent months and in recent years and we are going to continue doing it to think about what is the best project for the future for Navarra", he said, adding that they are going to "build it among the constitutionalist forces in Navarra".

When asked then if the PP is willing to collaborate with the platform founded by Sayas and Adanero, Bendodo has indicated that his party wants to "talk to everyone." "Obviously our priority interlocutor is UPN and we are going to talk with them, not how we build a better coalition for ourselves, but what is the best model for Navarra", he said, adding that along these lines "surely they will understand each other". .

On the other hand, Bendodo has also referred to the election of Diego Canga, something of an EU official, as head of the party's poster in Asturias, a step that, according to what he has said, was already ratified last week by the Regional Board of Directors.

"We have a great candidate and I am convinced that we have a great president of the Principality of Asturias. He is a person who is loved, respected and endorsed by his management in the EU as director general", he declared, to underline that he is a person of "recognized prestige" that will "return the good name and good management" to Asturias.

When asked who will be the candidate of the PP in Gijón, given that the candidate for mayor is yet to be decided, Bendodo has indicated that the national leadership of the PP only has competence to name the candidates for the provincial capitals, in the case of Asturias only Oviedo. "The mayor is a great mayor, Alfredo Canteli, and we will be delighted that he is the candidate again", he added.

As for whether the PP has already thought about who will be its candidate in Barcelona and if the names of Dolors Montserrat or Daniel Sirera are on the table, the general coordinator of the PP has not positioned himself and has limited himself to ensuring that the party " In all cases, it will propose the candidates with the best chances of winning the elections". Bendodo has confirmed that the PP will make an act of presentation of its candidates, but "you will be later, not before the end of the year", although before Christmas they want to have "defined" the candidates of the provincial capitals.
