'Génova' considers that Tornero's resignation is "one more example of institutional deterioration" with the Sánchez government

MADRID, 27 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has assured this Tuesday that the resignation of the president of RTVE, José Manuel Pérez Tornero, shows that the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, wants "a Spain in the image and likeness" of the socialist headquarters of Ferraz and he has warned that his party is going to work to prevent the "deterioration" from going beyond this legislature.

This has been pronounced after the president of the RTVE Corporation has announced his intention to present "in the next few hours" his resignation to the presidency of RTVE, and to form part of its board of directors, eighteen months after arriving at the position.

Gamarra, who is also a spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, has indicated that with this decision RTVE "joins the INE, CIS, Indra, the Prosecutor's Office and the rest of the institutions whose prestige has not been able to survive four years of Sánchez."

"He wants a Spain in the image and likeness of Ferraz. Our obligation is to work to prevent deterioration from going beyond this Legislature," said the 'popular' leader in a message on her official Twitter account, which has been collected by Europa Press .

In 'Genoa' they consider that this resignation is "one more example of institutional deterioration", in line with the "appropriation" of the institutions that, according to the PP, the Government of Pedro Sánchez is carrying out.

This was reported this Monday before the Executive Committee of the PP by Alberto Núñez Feijóo himself, who criticized Sánchez for having "relieved the leaders of the CNI and the INE for fulfilling their duty", having "taken Indra with a deception" and having " reduced the CIS to a propaganda office in Moncloa".

Pérez Tornero was elected president on March 25, 2021, after an agreement between the PSOE, PP, Podemos and PNV to renew the Council of RTVE, an agreement that received criticism from other parties in the parliamentary arch, who accused those formations of having "shared the chairs again in the old way".

Shortly after, the PSOE and the PP - then led by Pablo Casado - also closed another agreement and renewed the Ombudsman, the Court of Auditors and the Spanish Data Protection Agency in October. The negotiations were led by the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and the then General Secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea.

Faced with the possibility that at this time it is possible to reach an agreement for RTVE again, in the current pre-campaign scenario and with the absence of communication between Sánchez and Feijóo, sources from the PP leadership have admitted to Europa Press that "it is not easy to agree anything with this government".
