The National Court lowers a millionaire sanction from the CNMC to Telefónica to 50,000 euros

MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The National Court has lowered from six million euros to 50,000 euros a penalty imposed by the National Markets and Competition Commission on Telefónica (CNMC) to Telefónica in 2019 for delays in repairing faults in the lines that the operator must provide to other operators due to its dominant status.

The operator appealed the sanction and the National High Court reduced the matter to a "minor" infraction, considering that Telefónica had failed to comply with "some obligations" and not all of those of the mandate on this service, with which it was not possible to apply a sanction for a very serious, according to 'La Información' this Monday and confirmed by Europa Press.

The CNMC underlined in its sanction that Telefónica gave priority to repairs in its own retail service with respect to the NEBA wholesale lines of Vodafone and Orange.

Likewise, it also detected "discriminatory practices" in the quality conditions of the circuits provided between 2017 and 2018 both at the national level and in the provinces of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Pontevedra.
