MADRID, 7 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Criminal Chamber of the National Court (AN) has confirmed the file of the ‘Villarejo case’ for the president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, which was decreed by the investigating judge when considering that the facts for which he was being investigated in the ‘Tandem’ macro-cause would have prescribed.

In an order this Thursday, collected by Europa Press, the magistrates of the Third Section point out that the statute of limitations for the crime of bribery is 10 years, a period that would have already ended in June 2021, the month in which the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6 charged Sánchez Galán. And it is that, they add, the events for which he was cited occurred between 2004 and 2009.

It was on June 23 when Judge Manuel García Castellón agreed to the free dismissal for Sánchez Galán due to the prescription of the facts for which he was charged with crimes of active bribery, against privacy and falsehood in a commercial document.

The Chamber has now dismissed the appeal filed by the president of ACS, Florentino Pérez, against that decision and to which Podemos and Corneliu Dica, the former partner of Iberdrola in a project in Romania who would have been allegedly spied on by the retired commissioner, also joined Jose Manuel Villarejo.
