The Mercedes-Benz Vitoria committee will decide today whether to support the strikes called by ELA, LAB and ESK

VITORIA, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The works council of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vitoria-Gasteiz will decide this Tuesday, after meeting with the factory management, whether to join the ELA, LAB and ESK strike calls for Thursday and Friday, which would be added to the strike scheduled for tomorrow, which already has the endorsement of the entire committee.

The representative body of the Mercedes-Benz factory workforce (made up of ELA, LAB, ESK, CC.OO., UGT, Ekintza and PIM) planned to decide yesterday whether to support the strike call made by ELA, LAB, ESK for Thursday and Friday.

However, and as reported to Europa Press by the spokesman for CC.OO. in the committee, Roberto Pastor, the decision was postponed until today in order to know what the management proposes to them in the meeting that both parties will hold during the day.

Pastor has expressed his hope that, "just as progress has been made" in some aspects, those responsible for the plant in Alava are willing to take "a leap" in matters such as those related to flexibility, which will allow the staff to consider them "enough".

The Mercedes-Benz unions have reactivated their mobilizations after learning that the company intends to condition an investment of more than 1,200 million euros in the plant on the staff accepting an increase in their labor flexibility.

Likewise, some of the union organizations represented in the committee have warned that those responsible for the multinational also intend to condition this investment to a reduction in the salaries of the employees.
