The head of Russia's foreign intelligence points to the West as responsible for "an attack" on the Nord Stream

MADRID, 30 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Services, Sergei Naryskin, assured this Friday that his agency has evidence pointing to the West as being responsible for "an attack" against the Nord Stream gas pipelines, allegedly sabotaged according to the European Union at the beginning of this week on his underwater journey through the Baltic Sea.

"We have materials that point to the Western footprint in the organization and execution of these terrorist acts," Narishkin said this Friday at a press conference collected by the Russian Interfax agency, without giving further details.

The head of Russian foreign intelligence has denounced that "the West is also doing everything possible to hide the real authors and organizers of this international terrorist act."

Denmark sounded the alarm on Tuesday after detecting a gas leak in one of the sections of Nord Stream 2 on the Danish island of Bornholm. Hours later, the Nord Stream 1 submarine tube detected a drop in the pressure of the gas from Russia sent to Germany and that affects the two lines of the conduit.

Both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 were paralyzed at the time of the apparent sabotage, the first due to maintenance problems raised by the Russian side and the second as a political measure after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February. .
