MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government makes the creation of 32 social courts that the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) demanded in December 2022 to have a budget for it in 2023 and to a future analysis of the workload of those who are already in functioning.

This is how the Executive of Pedro Sánchez responds to the Citizens deputy who asked him in writing about that request from the Permanent Commission of the CGPJ on the creation of new courts in Andalusia, Catalonia, Madrid and the Valencian Community in order to "expedite judicial activity and to reduce the response times in those provinces in which it has been detected that the acts of conciliation and judgment are indicated with a delay of more than one year".

"The creation of these 32 labor courts that are requested in the aforementioned agreement --of the Commission-- is subject to budgetary availability, an assessment of the workload of the Labor Courts in operation, as well as to the response times of the same, to the proposals for the creation of the autonomous communities for 2023 and to the proposal of the General Council of the Judiciary for 2023", indicates the Government in its response, collected by Europa Press.

In addition, the Executive warns that this petition for the creation of new courts, launched in December, "must be included in the proposal for the creation of new judicial units for the programming corresponding to 2023."

And remember that this proposal will be requested at the time by the General Directorate for the Public Justice Service, as it will do with the requests for the creation of new judicial units launched by the 12 autonomous communities with assumed powers in matters of Justice.

Likewise, the Government recalls that in the programming of the judicial plant of 2022, "already closed and materialized in Royal Decree 954/2022, of November 15", the creation of seventy judicial units was approved. And it warns that it includes the creation of five new Social Courts.

The deputy for Citizens Juan Ignacio López-Bas pointed out in his question, launched in December, that according to the CGPJ report it was "necessary and essential to establish these 32 new courts" and that the recommended territorial distribution was to create 12 in Andalusia , 1 in Catalonia, 15 in the Community of Madrid and 4 in the Valencian Community.

Specifically, it reflected the need to create 3 courts in Almería, 1 in Cádiz, 1 in Jerez de la Frontera, 2 courts in Malaga, 5 in Seville, 1 in Barcelona, 15 in Madrid --capital--, 2 in Alicante , and 2 in Elche.

From Ciudadanos they look at your question in the case of the Alicante town of Orihuela, and point out that the Bar Association of this demarcation "has repeatedly demanded the establishment of a Social Court in said city (or in Torrevieja), in order to facilitate the administration of justice in the workplace for the citizens of the Vega Baja region".

They indicate that it is necessary due to its population, greater than 350,000 inhabitants, and because it lacks these jurisdictional bodies, which leads those interested to have to travel to Elche or Alicante for labor matters.
