They point out that they are going to wait for the governing body of the judges before appointing their two magistrates of the Constitutional Court

MADRID, 2 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government does not currently contemplate undertaking a legal reform to reduce the majority necessary to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) once the negotiations with the PP have failed. On the contrary, they insist on transferring the pressure to Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party and also indicate that they are going to wait for the governing body of the judges before undertaking their two appointments as magistrates of the Constitutional Court.

On the reduction of the parliamentary majority, government sources convey that they are not in that, that in any case it is "another screen" and underline the seriousness that the PP has gotten up from the table and says that it is not going to take carry out this renewal required by the Constitution. "We cannot be in this situation," they add.

Other sources from the Executive, questioned about what the Government is going to do if this pressure does not take effect and the PP maintains its position, have indicated that there are always legal keys, although they avoid specifying the specific steps that the Executive can take.

Currently the election of the 12 members of the CGPJ that is in the hands of the Congress and the Senate, is carried out by a reinforced majority of three fifths (210 deputies in the Lower House), for which an agreement between the PSOE and the PP is essential, the two main forces in the House. However, from the government partner, United We Can, they have been demanding that this majority be lowered and the members be elected by an absolute majority (176), as was already done to renew the Council of RTVE.

In this sense, the government sources consulted indicate that the breach of the Constitution, in which, in their opinion, the PP has been installed, cannot be allowed to "be naturalized" after four years of the CGPJ with the mandate expired and pending renewal.

They maintain, therefore, that all the focus should be placed here, on the pressure on the PP to agree to undertake the renewal and they even speak of the fact that it should be a citizen demand and the key role of the media in this regard. .

The negotiation between the Executive and the popular derailed last Thursday after three weeks of talks due to the possible reform of the crime of sedition to benefit the independentistas, according to the PP.

On the other hand, regarding whether the Government is going to appoint the two magistrates of the Constitutional Court that corresponds to it, in Moncloa they are going to wait to see what decision the current CGPJ makes - which must also appoint two other magistrates -.

Thus they remember that the governing body of the judges is also subject to the law and therefore has to unblock the appointments in the TC. In this line they point out that the CGPJ has to reactivate the work and that it is already meeting. "Let's wait," they say.

In addition, the same sources deny that new talks are taking place between the negotiators of both parties, the Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, and the PP's Deputy Secretary of Institutional Affairs, Esteban González Pons. "We are not in that", they have settled.

Regarding the scuffle this morning between the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the PP spokesperson in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, in Moncloa they see the radicalized 'popular', after having made numerous mistakes in recent weeks and that "all the surveys" indicate that the popular ones have a downward trend, according to what they say.

They therefore consider that they have shown that they have neither a project nor a leadership and that is why they have fallen into "absolute despair" and "disqualification", as they have accused.

On the contrary, they see that Sánchez was "strong at heart" in his response and that he is "where he has to be", carrying out a plan of measures that "is already giving results", since inflation is falling, as hold.
