The Government condemns the "terrorist attack" against a synagogue in Jerusalem

MADRID, 28 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of Spain has "strongly" condemned the "terrorist attack" perpetrated this Friday by an armed man against a synagogue in Neve Yaakov, an Israeli settlement and neighborhood located in East Jerusalem.

This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation through a publication on its Twitter profile, collected by Europa Press, in which it regretted that the attack caused deaths. The provisional balance of the attack is seven dead, although the number could increase due to the seriousness of the wounded.

Also, it has sent "a heartfelt condolences to the families and relatives of the victims" and has wished "a speedy and complete recovery of the injured."

The armed attack took place at a synagogue in Neve Yaakov in East Jerusalem where, according to preliminary reports, the suspect, a Palestinian man, fired from a car into the Jewish temple, killing seven people and wounding others.

After that, the suspect, a resident of East Jerusalem, fled to the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Hanina, where he was neutralized by Israeli Police officers while trying to flee the scene on foot.

The attack came at the end of a day of enormous tension in the West Bank over the death of nine Palestinians during an Israeli operation.
