The General Directorate of Insurance fines Helvetia with 48,000 euros for serious infringement

MADRID, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The General Directorate of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP) has imposed a fine of 48,000.8 euros on Helvetia Compañía Suiza for not having promptly provided the competent body with the data related to the compulsory insurance of motor vehicles, for the purposes of record in the Information File of Insured Vehicles (FIVA), or due to the lack of veracity in the information sent.

The law on civil liability and insurance in the circulation of motor vehicles establishes the obligation for insurance companies to send to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, through the Insurance Compensation Consortium, the information on insurance contracts that is necessary with the requirements, in the form and with the periodicity determined by regulation.

The objective is to control the effective fulfillment of the obligation of the owners of motor vehicles to maintain an insurance contract in force for each vehicle of which they are the owner and that the people involved in a traffic accident can find out as soon as possible the circumstances relating to the insurance company that covers the civil liability of each of the vehicles involved in the accident.

Helvetia has been sanctioned for committing a serious infraction typified in article 195.22 of Law 20/2015, of July 14, on the supervision and solvency of insurance and reinsurance entities, consisting of non-compliance with the obligation to supply on time to the competent body the data related to the obligatory insurance of motor vehicles, for the purposes of proof in the FIVA, or due to the lack of veracity in the information sent.

The sanction, to which the advance voluntary payment discount has been applied, has been recorded in the records of the DGSFP, consulted by Europa Press, after having become final in the administrative process last June.
