The economic spokesperson for Ciudadanos charges against the Arrimadas list: "It is cosmetic, it is protected"

MADRID, 23 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy for Ciudadanos María Muñoz in Congress, economic spokesperson for the parliamentary group, criticized this Friday the candidacy to lead the party of which the leader, Inés Arrimadas, is a part, for not attending to the "consensus" that she advocates and being "cosmetic ". In her opinion, the 'orange' president has "promoted, usurped and protected" the list.

Arrimadas, who has defended his candidacy as that of "unity", presents this Friday the list for the January primaries, in which he appears but does not lead. There are names like that of the spokesman in the European Parliament, Adrián Vázquez; the regional coordinator of the Balearic Islands, Patricia Guasp; the Organization Secretary, Carlos Pérez-Nievas; and the Madrid City Councilor Mariano Fuentes.

He will face that of the party's deputy secretary general, Edmundo Bal, who does lead his candidacy. He is accompanied by Santiago Saura, who is also a Madrid councilor, and the deputies in Congress, Sara Giménez and Mari Carmen Martínez Granados, among others.

Muñoz, for his part, has transferred his decision not to be part of any of the candidacies, although his name has always sounded to integrate Bal's, after he proposed his name for the group's spokesperson in Congress during the negotiation with the 'orange' president. Arrimadas rejected it. She owes herself, she says, to the Valencians, as regional coordinator, and to the Spanish, as a congressional deputy.

"This list does not emerge from a consensus or from a real attempt to change things or from any desire to unite the party, but only from the mandate to implement cosmetic changes so that, in reality, everything remains the same", the deputy pointed out in a letter addressed to the militancy that he has spread through his account on the social network Twitter, where he has insisted on not being part of any project "whose sole purpose is to ensure no person's chair and salary."

In Muñoz's opinion, "this formula, in which the Ciudadanos project is more concerned with the image of our leaders and with what other parties think of us than with actively defending our principles of freedom and equal opportunities" has made them get "to the situation" they are in today.

The economic spokesperson of the parliamentary group considers that it is possible to "reconnect" with the Spaniards who once voted for Ciudadanos, but it is necessary to "introduce profound changes" in the party, as affiliates, positions and candidates have requested in the framework of the process of re-foundation launched to revive the party after the succession of electoral debacles and in whose team she figured.

"I believe that this is possible, although I know that it will not be with that candidacy promoted, usurped and supervised by Inés Arrimadas," he added, stressing that his list "does not represent what so many affiliates worked for so long during the re-foundation" and It is a "trickster".

Muñoz, who has admitted the bad situation that Ciudadanos is going through, although he has said he feels "optimistic", has defended the work of the refoundation process. In the same way, he has maintained that he has worked "over and over again" to form a unity list. Finally, he has encouraged the militancy to be an active part of the primary process and the Extraordinary Assembly in mid-January in which all changes will have to be endorsed.
