Territorial leaders of Ciudadanos defend a list of unity in the party, as requested by Arrimadas

Igea advocates "dialogue and renewal" and asks that "candidacies against no one" be launched

MADRID, 5 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Territorial leaders of Ciudadanos and positions of the national Executive have advocated this Monday for agreeing on a list of unity to take the reins of the party in the extraordinary assembly in January, in line with what the current president, Inés Arrimadas, has defended.

Faced with the candidacy announced by the parliamentary spokesman and 'number two' of the party, Edmundo Bal, the 'orange' president has encouraged the formation of a single candidacy that brings together different profiles, including new ones, and has even shown her willingness not to lead it. Of course, if Bal does not agree to negotiate and insists on going to primaries, Arrimadas will present her own candidacy.

The organization secretary of the party and coordinator in Navarra, Carlos Pérez-Nievas, believes that Arrimadas's idea is correct: "This is what we need. We must flee from fratricidal struggles," he wrote on Twitter. agree among all a candidacy of unity, strong and renewed".

On the same social network, the party's spokesman in the European Parliament, Adrián Vázquez, stressed that the participants in the party's refounding process have always defended that a united project "is the only way." For this reason, he has urged to put "date and time" and to sit down "everyone" for that to happen. "I will always be on the side of the solution," he assured.

The spokesman for the group in charge of the re-foundation, Deputy Guillermo Díaz, has also called for "culminating the process by avoiding Cainite struggles and agreeing on a renewed leadership and unity" for the January assembly.

For her part, the coordinator of Ciudadanos in the Balearic Islands, Patricia Guasp, also a member of the re-foundation team, has assured that the unit's candidacy "is what the 'orange' affiliates deserve". "Let's preserve the work of the refoundation. Let's give more presence and voice to municipal and regional officials," she added, stressing her request to achieve "union, responsibility and generosity on the part of everyone."

The regional coordinator and spokesperson for the parliamentary group in the Parliament of Aragon, Daniel Pérez Calvo, has also stated that "affiliates, those who have given everything for the re-foundation and those who have given their all for Citizens in the territories on a daily basis do not deserve a lethal rupture as the climax, just for an armchair". For this reason, he has assured that "it is time for unity, generosity and high-mindedness."

Likewise, the spokesman for the Municipal Citizens Group in the Valencia City Council, Fernando Giner, who is repeating the 'orange' formation as a candidate for mayor of the city, has indicated that "what is important" is that the party has "unity and dialogue and that the project comes out reinforced in January".

The coordinator of Ciudadanos in Cantabria, Félix Álvarez, recalled that he had already defended that "the candidate for generals be chosen after May so as not to harm the work and possibilities of the candidates for regional and municipal elections." "The only thing left is to work for that unit list that all those who will show their faces deserve. Only," he added.

Finally, the attorney for Citizens in the Courts of Castilla y León, Francisco Igea, has stated that the party needs "dialogue, unity, consensus and renewal", placing special emphasis on this last aspect. According to Igea, what is not necessary are "candidacies against anyone."

Along these lines, he considers that if none of the above is found, "the militants will decide" and he has "congratulated" all those who decide to stand in the process to lead the party, stressing that he will not participate "in a candidacy that is do against anyone."

Ciudadanos will hold primaries on January 9 and 10 and, in accordance with the re-foundation documents approved by the party leadership, will bet on a two-headed model with a person in charge exclusively of the General Secretariat to take the reins of the organization and a different one, the spokesman, who will be his electoral poster.

However, this model has yet to be endorsed by the militancy in the Extraordinary Assembly. If it is validated and they do not reach an agreement, Arrimadas and Bal would compete with each other. Under the proposed two-headed model, they need a running mate.
