Susana Díaz's support for Griñán's pardon collides with the PSOE's Code of Ethics

MADRID, 24 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The senator of the PSOE and former president of the Junta de Andalucía, Susana Díaz, who has signed this Wednesday the petition for pardon for the former president of the Junta, José Antonio Griñán, promoted by his family, collides with the Code of Ethics of his party that It prevents the public officials of the PSOE from supporting the pardon of those convicted of crimes of corruption, which is the case of the former regional president.

As stated in article 8.1 of the party's Code of Ethics, which has been in force since 2014, "PSOE public officials undertake not to propose or support the pardon of public officials convicted of crimes related to corruption, gender violence, crimes of harassment or discrimination, against sexual freedom and indemnity, torture or against moral integrity, as well as the commission of acts constituting serious crimes.

The same article of the Code of Ethics adds a second point emphasizing that "public and organic officials undertake not to request their own pardon if they were convicted of the aforementioned crimes" linked to corruption.

However, and despite the Supreme Court's ratification of the Seville Provincial Court's conviction for embezzlement and prevarication against Griñán, Díaz has maintained that "Pepe is an honest, honorable man" and that "there are plenty of arguments to justify the pardon", while he recalled that the magistrate of the Supreme Court, Alberto Jorge Barreiro, "did not see the crime of embezzlement".

The socialist senator representing the Autonomous Community of Andalusia has confirmed her signature to the measure of grace with Griñán during her participation in a program on the Cuatro television network, which was broadcast this Tuesday, and which the ABC newspaper advanced this Wednesday .

Among the first signatories of Griñán's pardon petition are former presidents Felipe González, who appointed him minister in 1992, and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who promoted him as party president in 2012.

However, González and Zapatero are no longer public officials of the PSOE, so they would not be bound by that article of the code of ethics, but they do have an endowment from the General State Budgets (PGE) due to their status as former presidents of the Government. of the Nation.

The PSOE underlines in its transparency regulations that the Code of Ethics "is mandatory for those who hold a public or organic position or appear on an electoral list as a candidate", assumptions that would no longer affect former presidents but Susana Díaz. that she holds the position of senator for Andalusia and that she could incur an infraction by skipping the internal regulations.
