Spain rises three positions and recovers its pre-pandemic position in the IMD digital competitiveness ranking

MADRID, 28 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Spain has regained the position it had in 2019, before the pandemic, in the digital competitiveness ranking produced annually by the Swiss business school IMD, published this Wednesday.

In the 2022 edition of the Spain ranking, it ranked 28th, which represents an improvement of three positions compared to last year. In 2020, Spain dropped to 33rd place after being 28th in 2019.

One of the aspects in which Spain stands out the most is government cybersecurity, in which it occupies position 12 of the 63 countries that make up the ranking of the business school. This "recognizes its ability to deal with attacks on its digital infrastructure," says the IMD.

Spain is ahead of economies such as Portugal (38), Italy (39) and Greece (50) and behind others such as the United Kingdom (16), Germany (19), Belgium (23), France (22) or Ireland ( 24).

The ranking is headed by Denmark, which has climbed three places compared to last year. It is followed by the United States, which has lost one position, while Sweden has remained in third place. Singapore has moved up one position from 2021 to fourth place, while Switzerland has moved up one position to fifth place.
