Spain extends until November 15 the restriction of non-essential travel to third countries

MADRID, 15 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Official State Gazette (BOE) this Thursday includes the extension until next November 15 of the temporary restriction of non-essential travel from third countries to the European Union and associated Schengen countries for reasons of public order and public health on the occasion of the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

With this modification of Order INT/657/2020, of July 17, entry into Spain is extended to people with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a recovery certificate or a negative diagnosis certificate for said disease , that the Ministry of Health recognizes for these purposes. In addition, children under 12 years of age may also enter.

This order will take effect from 24:00 on July 22, 2020 until 24:00 on November 15, 2022, without prejudice to its eventual modification to respond to a change in circumstances or new recommendations in the European Union.

The list of third countries whose residents were exempt from travel restrictions to the European Union has been modified on successive occasions to adapt the list of third countries to epidemiological circumstances or to make certain adjustments to the criteria applied.

Currently, the content remains unchanged. However, Order INT/657/2020, of July 17, has been adapted to improve the epidemiological situation, avoiding becoming an unjustified obstacle to the economy and personal relationships.

In this way, the maintenance by the Council of the Union of Recommendation (EU) 2020/912 on the temporary restriction of non-essential travel to the EU advises the extension of this Order, although adapting it to the surveillance measures and health control contemplated in the Surveillance and Control Strategy against COVID-19 after the acute phase of the pandemic.
