The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, congratulated Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Monday after being sworn in as the 39th president of Brazil.

“My best wishes for this new stage full of hope for Brazil. Together for a social justice agenda,” Sánchez wrote in a message on Twitter, picked up by Europa Press.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was sworn in this Sunday as president of the Republic of Brazil at the culmination of an inauguration ceremony that marks the beginning of his third term as head of the country with a message of “hope and reconstruction in the face of the ” devastation” that, he assures, his predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, has left behind.

King Felipe VI attended the investiture held in Brasilia together with the Vice President and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares.
