Serbia's neighboring countries veto Lavrov's passage and prevent his visit to Belgrade

Zakharova claims that the West is the one that interrupts talks with Russia

The authorities of Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Montenegro have refused to authorize the overflight of the plane that was transporting the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, to Serbia, where he was scheduled to make an official visit.

"Our diplomacy has not yet mastered teleportation," a Russian Foreign Ministry official quoted by the Interfax news agency lamented.

The North Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the Russian Embassy in Skopje's request for the use of the country's airspace by Lavrov's plane has been denied, reports Radio Free Europe.

Lavrov was scheduled to visit Serbia on June 6 and 7, but Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic acknowledged that "the situation is getting complicated." This same Sunday it was the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, who recognized the problem.

"It is incredible that the situation in Europe and the world is such that the president of a country must deal with such things as the logistical organization of a trip by a foreign minister from another country and that it depends on that whether he comes or not," Brnabic has argued in statements to Serbian television.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajarova announced the visit on Friday with meetings with Vucic and other Serbian politicians to discuss the situation in the Balkan region and other international issues.

Zajarova has confirmed that the countries bordering Serbia have closed their airspace to the planes of Russian Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"If the question is whether we are interfering in communication with Europe, my answer is that in reality it is not us that are doing it, it is the interior of the West that is doing it, and the United States that dominates it," declared the Russian spokeswoman in an interview on the Italian television channel La7 late this Sunday.

Thus, he stressed that "the countries bordering Serbia have closed the only air route to Sergei Lavrov's plane that was going to leave for that country. The Russian delegation was scheduled to hold talks in Belgrade, while the member countries of the Union Europe and NATO have closed their airspace."
