Santander has appointed Cristina Ruiz as director of transformation of Santander Spain and Matías Sánchez as the new global head of cards and digital solutions, according to bank sources confirmed to Europa Press.

According to 'Bloomberg', the group's CEO, José Antonio Álvarez, informed in an internal email about these appointments yesterday afternoon.

Cristina Ruiz resigned last April as CEO of Indra TI for personal reasons. She joined Indra in 2011 and in May 2021 she was appointed co-CEO of the company, being responsible for the technology area.

Ruiz was already part of the board of directors of Santander Spain since last year. Following her new appointment, she will join Santander Spain's steering committee as director of transformation and she will report to Santander Spain CEO António Simões.

For his part, Matías Sánchez, who since April 2021 held the position of head of retail products for Europe and Spain at Banco Santander, has been appointed as the new global head of cards and digital solutions, a position that had been vacant since the departure of Rami Aboukhair. in December 2021. Sánchez will report directly to the group's CEO.
