Santander and CaixaBank will turn off their illuminated signs from today at 10:00 p.m.

MADRID, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Santander and CaixaBank will turn off from this Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. the illuminated signs of their corporate headquarters and branches to comply with the plan of energy saving measures, sources from the entities have confirmed to Europa Press.

Both entities will turn off the illuminated signs of both their branches and their corporate buildings, as well as their video screens. CaixaBank will choose to leave its 'banners' on to indicate the existence of ATMs open 24 hours, while Santander will turn them off. In both cases, it should be noted that the ATMs will remain illuminated.

In this way, the two companies are now preparing to comply with the measures and are two hours ahead of the entry into force of Royal Decree-Law 14/2022 of August 1 on sustainability, saving and energy efficiency measures to reduce the dependence on natural gas in the context of the war in Ukraine.

This is a package of measures that the Government approved last week with measures for public buildings, commercial spaces and department stores, transport infrastructure (airports and train and bus stations), cultural spaces and hotels.

The measures include keeping the air conditioning, both in the headquarters and in the branches, at a temperature that is not lower than 27 degrees. The temperature of heating appliances, on the contrary, may not exceed 19 degrees.

Likewise, the relative humidity must be maintained between 30% and 70%, and the access doors to the offices must remain closed during working hours in order to maintain the environmental conditions inside.

The entities also plan to establish informative posters in their branches soon to inform about the temperature and humidity measurements, as set out in the new regulations.

CaixaBank will continue with its current 'dress code' policy, which allows the wearing of suits and ties to be more flexible, while Santander has some energy efficiency measures in place, such as the creation of transport routes or the installation of solar panels in buildings in the cluster.
