The authorities of Russia and Ukraine have proceeded this Thursday to exchange about twenty prisoners of war each, for which twenty Ukrainian soldiers and twenty other Russians have been released.

In a statement, the Russian authorities have indicated that the release of their soldiers, who were in territory controlled by the Ukrainian forces, has taken place after a series of negotiations.

Thus, they have indicated that all of them have received the necessary medical and psychological assistance after their release, according to information from the Interfax news agency. They will be sent to medical centers dependent on the Russian Defense Ministry, where they will receive treatment and rehabilitation as soon as possible.

For his part, the head of the office of the Ukrainian Presidency, Andriy Yermak, has indicated that another twenty Ukrainian prisoners have been released. Yermak explained that among the prisoners were several soldiers who had been captured by Russian forces in Olenivka, “where the Russian Army carried out a terrorist attack in the summer.”

“The boys are now being examined. Everyone is happy to have returned to their land. They are waiting for them at home. Many times they are parents or wives and many have children,” he stressed.
