Rufián reproaches Sánchez for going "Che with a tie in Davos" but not promoting "brave" measures in Spain

"It will not throw him out of Moncloa to pardon political prisoners, but an excess of prudence in the social", he affirms

MADRID, 24 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has recriminated this Tuesday the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for appearing at the Davos Economic Forum as if he were "Che Guevara with a tie" but then he does not dare to adopt measures "brave" in Spain and has warned him that "excessive social prudence" could cost him Moncloa.

"President, an excess of national courage, pardoning some political prisoners, reforming anachronistic crimes of the Penal Code or ultra demonstrations will not throw you out of Moncloa; it can lead to excessive prudence in the social sphere," he told him during debate in Congress.

For all these reasons, he has summoned the Chief Executive to take advantage of the remaining months of the legislature to do "whatever" they must do because it is not known if there will be a second chance for a progressive coalition government.

Thus, he has asked him to focus on measures to "alleviate what really matters to people", that is, "how hard life is getting", stressing that the price of electricity or the gasoline but that "live and eat" has increased by almost 50%.

In this context, he has urged him to cap food prices, to tax the profits of supermarkets, because lowering VAT without doing this also only serves to prevent the State from collecting and the benefits of large supermarkets increase.

He has also demanded an increase in the minimum wage to 1,100 euros, "say what the CEOE says." On this point he has regretted that now that the president of the employers' association, Antonio Garamendi, is opposed to the government's measures, he is no longer "comrade Garamendi" as, in his opinion, he was for the approval of the labor reform.

In addition, Rufián has once again demanded a tax reform so that the rich pay more taxes and the approval of the Housing Law to cap rental prices, let the territories identify the stressed areas and not do it from "the office of a ministry" and so that "there are no owners who believe that instead of tenants they have slaves".

The ERC spokesman has also reserved a part of his speech to the "threats" that hang over democracy and has warned that it is a "matter of time" that in Spain there will be "an assault on Congress, the Senate or any chamber parliamentarian".

"Democracy needs good winners, but above all, good losers and the right has shown that, whatever flag it has, it never knows how to lose and they believe that the countries are theirs", he added, before criticizing "the attack by the rights to the right to abortion". "They are economically neoliberal and socially feudal," she added.
