Rodríguez affirms that the Government is not "obsessed with electoral profitability, but social"

MADRID, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Territorial Policy and Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, has assured that the socialist party is not "obsessed with electoral profitability, but social" while warning the leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that Spanish politics "it's volatile"

"Six months ago the leader of the opposition was another, the leaders of some political parties were others and also the posters for the general elections," Rodríguez pointed out in an interview on Telecinco collected by Europa Press when questioned by the polls that give favorite to the PP for the next elections.

"The PSOE shows its strength throughout the territory and it will be time to assess what has been done with the citizens, but now our obsession is not electoral profitability, but social profitability. The Government is very satisfied with a management that at all times has given a timely response," he added.

The government spokeswoman has assured that the entire socialist party will row in favor "without a doubt" regarding the new changes approved in the last Federal Committee of the PSOE. "We are one year away from the regional and municipal elections and we are going to put the accelerator in terms of the organic work of the party thinking about that electoral appointment," she pointed out.

Regarding the gas rationing policies in the EU, he has urged the member countries to "speak with arguments" and try to make a "serious and rigorous analysis so as not to pay a higher tax". "We have to give a joint and solidary response: it is difficult to reconcile the different positions, but if we have shown anything in this crisis, it is that a fair redistribution policy must be made", she stressed.

In addition, he has reiterated that the Government will prohibit the banking and large electricity companies from passing on the costs that the new extraordinary taxes will entail, which will be ready next week. "We are going to do it from the law and looking for mechanisms that provide technical security and so that the possibility of it having repercussions on citizens is unfeasible", he remarked.

Rodríguez has made "an appeal" to banking and electricity entities so that "that social responsibility that they proclaim is practiced at a time of special difficulty like this." "I am hopeful that it will be so," he added. Rodríguez has also shown his "absolute respect" for the decision of the new Sumar political party not to stand in the regional elections.
