Robles visits the barracks that stores the 200 tons of military material ready to be sent to Ukraine

MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, has visited the Intendancy Material Supply Park and Center, in the San Cristóbal-Villaverde Barracks (Madrid), where "after a month of intense work" the 1,600 pallets with 200 tons of uniforms and complementary equipment for cold climates that Spain will send to Ukraine.

After criticism from the Ukrainian ambassador to Spain, Defense confirmed yesterday that it will redouble military aid against the Russian invasion, coinciding with the sixth month of war in the country and on the occasion of Independence Day.

For this reason, he assured that an anti-missile battery, armored vehicles, more ammunition, basic training for Ukrainian forces in Spain, as well as clothing and winter equipment will be sent immediately. "We remain committed to Ukraine!" Defense has pointed out this Thursday on his Twitter account, where he has published several photographs of Robles' visit to the San Cristóbal-Villaverde barracks.

This Wednesday, the Ukrainian ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, regretted that the last shipment of weapons from Spain was in May and they could not get everything they had requested. "I cannot say that we are satisfied, or that we are receiving everything that Spain could supply," said the ambassador, who, however, thanked the Spanish help.

Through its deputy spokesman in the Senate, José Antonio Monago, the PP reiterated criticism of Robles yesterday, understanding that "it goes from ridiculous to ridiculous" due to the delays in sending weapons to Ukraine, referring to what was expressed by the ambassador of this country in Spain. In addition, he registered a new battery of questions claiming the "formal request" for the acquisition of modern combat tanks, as Robles herself had announced this week.

Defense has claimed that Spain "has always acted and will continue to do so in coordination with the countries of the Atlantic Alliance, the EU and with the Group of Donors", made up of 45 countries. Robles criticized the PP's lack of sense of state and its frivolity.

The material prepared for shipment consists of field artillery that the Ukrainian authorities were already informed on August 17 that it was at their disposal in a Spanish base and ready for delivery with a total of 1,000 full rounds of ammunition long range, prepared in 75 pallets of one cubic meter.

The acquisition and delivery to Ukraine of 1,000 tons of diesel oil for an approximate amount of 2.5 million euros has also been authorized, as well as a set of TOA APC M-113 vehicles in good working order, pending operational readiness after the industrial setup.

A complete point anti-aircraft defense battery and its missiles have been prepared, a battery that was fully operational. In addition, Ukraine has been offered to conduct training in the operation and maintenance of the battery.

In addition, the preparation of Spanish trainers and different priority training modules for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is being coordinated with an allied country. This task is likely to be included in the possible future mission of the European Union, if approved, according to Defense.

In response to an urgent request from the President's adviser Volodimir Zelensky ahead of the coming winter, a significant load of uniforms and complementary equipment for cold weather has been prepared. Specifically, there are some 30,000 cold weather campaign uniforms, 15,600 jackets, 15,000 outdoor suits and several thousand complementary clothing and coat items.
