Robles defends the appointment of Campo to the TC and says that neither the PP nor the CGPJ have the authority to criticize him

MADRID, 29 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, has supported this Tuesday the appointment of former minister Juan Carlos Campo to occupy a chair in the Constitutional Court and has maintained that neither the Popular Party nor the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) have "authority" to criticize it

In statements to the media before inaugurating a conference on cybersecurity of the CCN-CERT, Robles (a magistrate by profession) has acknowledged that she does not understand or share the "mistrust" towards judges who are in politics.

"Campo is a magistrate who has a great resume", he has claimed, describing the work he can do in the Constitutional Court as "magnificent" and criticizing that the PP only has "distrust" when the judges are appointed by the Socialists, but not by themselves.

But in addition, it has accused the 'popular' of holding the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) hostage and has reproached the governing body of the judges for not having appointed the members of the TC that corresponds to it based on the current law.

She has claimed to be "embarrassed" by this "unfortunate" situation. "Neither the Popular Party nor the CGPJ have a minimum authority to be able to criticize a proposal from two people who are jurists of authentic prestige", she has maintained.
