Putin visits military wounded in Ukraine war for the first time

MADRID, 25 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, visited soldiers wounded in the Ukraine war on Wednesday, an unprecedented gesture in which he was accompanied by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Putin has gone to a military hospital in the capital, Moscow, where he has greeted some of the wounded in what Russia continues to describe as a "special operation", as shown by images broadcast on state television.

It is the first time that Putin has made such a visit since he gave the order to launch the invasion on February 24. Moscow has not given a clear balance of casualties, but the Ukrainian authorities estimate the deaths on the Russian side at almost 30,000.
