PSOE says that Budgets and Housing Law "have nothing to do" but are "willing" to negotiate with partners

MADRID, 4 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The parliamentary spokesman for the PSOE, Patxi López, said this Tuesday in Congress that the new General State Budgets (PGE) and the Housing Law "have nothing to do with it", but that the PSOE is "willing to talk about everything" with its partners to carry out the public accounts. In any case, López has said that "it would be more reasonable to talk about budget items" in the negotiation.

In a press conference in the Lower House, López defended after the agreement between the partners of the government coalition that "now the negotiation begins" with the parliamentary formations, with whom he hopes to sit down, see the different positions, "negotiate and agree".

In his speech, he highlighted that it is the third consecutive year in which the Government presents accounts with the aim of approving them "in a timely manner" and has celebrated that they are accounts "with greater social spending" to guarantee the purchasing power of pensions and the financing of public services such as health, dependency or education.

"We are very proud that these Budgets have the largest investment in history", underlined the spokesman for the PSOE, who believes that "all" the groups should agree on this, since "that is what public resources are for" and that "no one remains on the sidelines of a country's progress".

"We are never going to seek that the progress of a few walks over the misery of many", insisted the PSOE deputy, claiming that "no one is a slave to necessity" and considering that the formations that criticize social spending for wanting less taxes "defend an illiberal country".

In this sense, López has assured that taxation is "the great tool to fight against inequality", since "it allows for equity policies" and "to share the burdens and the sacrifices". "The PP does politics exclusively for the rich, the PSOE for everyone else," he snapped at her.
