PP, Vox and Cs accuse the PSOE of legislating to the extent of those convicted by the 'process' with its reform of the Penal Code

Gamarra regrets that the PSOE has gone "to the other side", Arrimadas believes that 2017 is being revived and Ortega Smith speaks of an "assault on the TC"

MADRID, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PP and Ciudadanos have defended this Thursday in the plenary session of Congress that the reform of the Criminal Code to eliminate the crime of sedition and reform the crime of embezzlement supposes legislating to the extent of the independentistas who promoted the procés of independence of 2017.

The spokesperson for the PP in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, has lamented that with the reform of both crimes the PSOE has decided to "go over to the other side" so that, when the independentistas try to carry out a new 'procés', she believes that this time "Democrats will not be united."

In his speech at the monographic plenary session held in Congress on the amendments to the bill promoted by the PSOE and Unidas Podemos to suppress the crime of sedition, Gamarra has blamed the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, for having decided absent from the debate - he has described him as a "coward" -, and has asserted that this proposal "is a drama for the Spaniards" and one more "station on the road map of the independentistas". "They did not think of getting what they want in such an easy and fast way," he pointed out.

After unsuccessfully trying to have the plenary session suspended until the Constitutional Court (TC) deliberates on Monday on its appeal for amparo against the amendments that affect the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and the TC, Gamarra regretted that the Socialists did not respect the fundamental rights of all the deputies of the Chamber, since it understands that the processing of the bill has not been adequate.

Thus, it has affected that "the world is lived upside down" because the Sánchez government has "camouflaged" so much with those who gave "a blow to democracy" that they now believe that Democracy is them. In line, he has ruled that no matter how much they leave their criminal records blank, "they are not honorable Democrats."

After this, he added that this Thursday's vote means a new step "in the demolition of the rule of law" because the equality of Spaniards before the law is broken. "There are politicians who legislate so that other politicians are above the law", he has pointed out in reference to the independentistas.

For all this, and given that, with the PSOE program in hand, he assured, the Socialists said that they would fight against corruption, he has asserted that those of Sánchez commit fraud against all their voters, for which reason he considers that "if they are ashamed "They should call elections and go to the polls.

In this sense, the PP maintains that the reform of sedition and embezzlement means legislating for people with names and surnames, and has cited those convicted and prosecuted by the Catalan independence process while generating a stir in the ERC bench.

For her part, the leader of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, compared what was happening this Thursday in Congress with what happened in Parliament in 2017, and regretted that the Government of Spain repeats what separatism did on that occasion. approving unconstitutional laws, such as making a Penal Code "tailored to four criminals in 48 hours."

In his speech, he has once again asked the PP to present a motion of no confidence, and has defended that the TC can rule on the laws that the Chamber intends to carry out. "Of course, you can question whether fundamental principles are being violated," he said.

After this, he has indicated that although Sánchez ended the process, he does so because now "a new faster and more humiliating process" is being launched because it comes from the Executive itself. And he has lamented that while in 2017 the police, the institutions and the courts stopped the process, now the case is different because the drama is that they will have to defend society from the Government of Spain.

"When a ruler has no scruples, the government's abuses have no limits," he ruled, adding that Sánchez has done more for the independence of Catalonia than many separatists in years, "and all for a few armchairs, he does it because he loves the can".

For his part, Vox deputy Javier Ortega Smith has described the plenary session as fraudulent because it is being held in a "climate of threat from the extreme left" and has pointed out that what the vote is seeking is an "assault" on the TC.

Thus, he has pointed out that the TC will become the "Government Court of the Government of Sánchez" and has regretted that they intend to approve unconstitutional regulations having a "domesticated" TC.

"Today is the 'de facto' death or disappearance of the division of powers," he pointed out, to later warn that the most dangerous coups d'état "are those that take place from within the institutions, taking advantage of the springs that the institutions give them allow".
