Podemos demands that the PSOE be an active part in the negotiation for the CGPJ and not give in to pressure from the PP to exclude them

He will contact his partner to claim a leading role in this matter and denounce that the resignation of Lesmes responds to the strategy of the PP

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Podemos has warned the PSOE that it must guarantee, as a "legitimate" member of the Executive, its role as an "active subject" and "protagonist" in the negotiation to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ). In this way, he has demanded his partner not to give "his arm to twist" and not give in to the pressure of the PP that seeks to "exclude" them to try to forge a "bipartisan" agreement.

This was indicated at a press conference by the state co-spokespersons of the formation, Pablo Fernández and Alejandra Jacinto, before the resignation that the president of the governing body of the judges, Carlos Lesmes, will formalize today. A resignation that has motivated the meeting of the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, and the leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

"Unidas Podemos has to be a determining part of this negotiation (...) Unidos Podemos has to be in that negotiation. That negotiation cannot be bipartisan and must include us as it cannot be otherwise, because we are members of the Government. It is already well that PSOE and PP have been making compromises with the Judiciary", Fernández has launched.

In this way, residents have issued a warning to the socialist wing that it will not allow "conchabar" the renovation of the CGPJ, which is a strategic element and must be negotiated "en block" within the Executive.

Moreover, Fernández has advanced that in the next few hours he will contact the PSOE, which has known for some time "first hand" his "intention and will" to be part of the renewal of the Judiciary.

In addition, the Podemos co-spokesperson has denounced that Lesmes' resignation comes "almost four years late" and frames his resignation in an "operation with the PP" to maintain the "blockade" and "anti-democratic control" of the governing body of the judges , of which he is "accomplice and conniving".
