Patxi López says that Yolanda Díaz is wrong in her complaints about the anti-squatting amendment: "It's about preventing injustices"

MADRID, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesperson for the socialist group in Congress, Patxi López, has responded to the accusations of the second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, about the anti-squatting amendment, alleging that "it is wrong" because "it is not about evictions", but about "giving tools to judges" to combat illegal 'squatting'.

This is how López stated in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press, in which he was asked about the statements of the Minister of Labor and Social Economy - who accused the PSOE of "entering the framework of the extreme right" - He has pointed out that his amendment includes situations of vulnerability and that it is about "preventing injustices".

In this sense, López explained that, in the event of a home invasion and illegal 'squatting', it is about the judges being able to require those who are in the house to provide proof that they are related to said house. On the other hand, if this is not the case, the judge may evict it to return it to its legitimate owners.

However, he stressed that it is planned that the judge can "see or understand" the situation of vulnerability of whoever is occupying the house. In his words, in that case, he will be able to make a different decision and put it in relation to social services so that "they can propose a solution to that house."

In addition, Patxi López has indicated that she hopes that "no one says that the solution to the price of rents is squatting" and has reiterated that "it is simply necessary that judges have tools to prevent injustices."

Finally, the socialist spokesman has insisted that cases of situations of vulnerability will be determined by justice itself and will be in line with social policies.
