Modi advocates India's full development on independence anniversary

MADRID, 15 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has commemorated this Monday the 75 years that have passed since the Asian power broke away from the United Kingdom in 1947, with the hope that by the first centenary of independence, in 2047, India will already be a country fully developed.

Modi, who has led the events from the Red Fort in Delhi, hopes that by then India will have eliminated servility, remain united and be proud of its history, among other commitments with which he has wanted to appeal to both the citizenry and the class politics.

"All citizens want a change, they want to see what happens before their eyes and they are not willing to wait any longer," said the Prime Minister, during a speech in which he explained that it is up to the administrations to respond to these demands, media reports local.

More than 10,000 members of the security forces have been deployed to protect the symbolic Red Fort, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the center of acts that have also spread to other parts of the country.

India is considered the second most populous country in the world, with more than 1.3 billion inhabitants, and according to Modi it is also "the cradle of democracy". It is considered, by GDP, the sixth largest economy, although inequality continues to hamper development.
