The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has pointed this Thursday to the "loss of confidence" as the fundamental reason for the dismissal of Colonel José María Tienda as head of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command, investigated for irregularities in the works of several barracks, although he has asked not to establish "links" with other corruption schemes.

"Let's not establish links or relationships, let the investigations be the ones that can determine (the conclusions). To date there is no link of these characteristics, but let's wait for the investigations," Marlaska responded to the press in Brussels, being asked if he fears that the case could tarnish the work of the Civil Guard or converge with what is known as the 'Tito Berni case', by the alias of former socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo.

Regarding the investigation in a Madrid court for alleged irregularities in the works carried out in various Civil Guard barracks and the possible relationship of the dismissed colonel with a Canarian businessman who appears in the summary of the 'Mediator case', the minister has insisted that It is a case that is already in court to investigate "specific contracts" and has asked to wait to see "what may be the final result" of said investigations.

In any case, Marlaska has asked not to establish "links" with other investigated plots and has insisted on emphasizing that the Civil Guard is the "most valued" institution by Spanish society, because it is "much more than one or two absolutely deplorable cases". and that "do not represent" the body.
