Market Analysis: Warshaw Family Treasures Sell in June

A 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar graded Mint State65 that was last sold at Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ and Sotheby’s September 2015 D. Brent Pogue sale, which sold for $282,000, soared to $600,000. This was the highest bidding.

The 1862 Seated Liberty half-dime graded Proof68+ Cameo from Numismatic Guaranty Corp., with an NGC star as well as a green Certified Acceptance Corp. sticker was one of the most stunning coins in the consignment. It sold for $40,800. It was last sold at Heritage's November 2013 sale benefitting the Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, for $44,062.50.

The cataloger noted that both offers contained concentric rainbow iridescence. It can be seen on both sides of this jewel 1862 half-dime proof. This ranges from silver and golden in the center to ocean-blue and mint at the extreme rims.
