Marc Márquez: "The bone is healing correctly and that is the best news of all"

"I'm optimistic, but I don't want to talk about deadlines"

MADRID, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) continues to progress in his recovery after the operation he underwent on his right humerus -ten weeks ago- and explained that the bone is "healing correctly and that is the best news of all ".

"Step by step I am feeling better and the bone is healing correctly, which is the best news of all. We are still in rehabilitation mode; I am working very hard on the cardiovascular aspect to try to be ready", said the man from Lleida in statements offered by his team.

"At the end of August I have another check-up and from there we can go one step further with the rehab and really start to tighten and build muscle. Some days are better than others, but this is all part of the journey. I'm optimistic, but I don't want to talk too much about the deadlines until we have this review, it's not the time to force. I've waited a long time to have this kind of feeling," Marquez said.

In this sense, the Catalan recalled that "it has been a struggle, it's not two days or two months, it's two years". "Last year I won some races like that, but I had to fight a lot. In Jerez I realized that something had to change. It was tough and it's tough now mentally, not because I'm not racing, but because you always have this doubt about your arm. ", he admitted.

"I can't have surgery again. I'm convinced that this one will be good, but these thoughts are always there in the back of your mind", which also referred to the situation of his team. “Honda is at a critical moment. I am talking a lot with my team and trying to understand the 2022 bike, the situation and what is going on. That is why I will go to Austria, to talk to everyone and meet with the HRC staff from Japan. to work in the future," he revealed.

"We're all pushing together; we win together, we lose together and we'll come back together. I'm also talking a lot with Stefan Bradl; us and Santi are working together and trying things, they both know how to drive. At Mugello I said I'd be home, but I want to stay connected. With the previous operation I disconnected too much and I want to be involved, so that when I return I have everything fresh", concluded Márquez.
