Macarena Olona "will take a step forward" with a new project if Vox "stops being an alternative" after the municipal ones

SEVILLA, 26 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former leader of Vox Macarena Olona announced this Monday her willingness to "take a step forward" with a new political project if the formation led by Santiago Abascal "ceases to be an alternative" after the municipal and regional elections of May 2023.

This is how Olona expressed himself during an interview on Canal Sur Radio, collected by Europa Press, in which he has ruled out "leading a political project other than Vox at this time" although he claims to have "the financing for it" because he considers that it would be a " absolute recklessness and irresponsibility to further fracture the political board at a time when Spain needs unity".

Asked if he could take the step after the municipal and regional elections in May, Olona acknowledged that "it may be the moment" because "the essential thing in the political moment we are experiencing is to have a high vision and a great sense of State to guarantee governability of the next Government of Spain after the next general elections".

"Faced with this situation, if Vox ceased to be an alternative, and the next municipal and regional elections could be an indicator and a thermometer in this regard, what I am clear about is that I want to be at the side of the Spanish and serve the Spanish," he added. Olona, before admitting "openly that of course I am available to take a step forward, if necessary, and I hope it is not necessary."
