Lambán (PSOE) applauds Felipe VI for not supporting Petro's "number" with Bolivar's sword

ZARAGOZA, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Aragon, the socialist Javier Lambán, has shown his support for Felipe VI for not standing up to the sword of Simón Bolívar at the inauguration of Gustavo Petro as president of Colombia. In his opinion, the King "was up to the task and did the right thing" because he had no obligation to support "the number" of Gustavo Petro.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, Lambán stated that the fact that the new president of Colombia decided, in an "improvised" way, to honor the "alleged" Bolivar's sword "in a tribute to himself, does not mean that the Head of State of Spain has to support the 'number'".

"Felipe VI was up to the task and did the right thing," he stressed, agreeing with the head of state.

In this context, the spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has replied to Lambán that the new president of Colombia "can make the decisions adjusted to the law that he pleases because they have voted for him at the polls."

"Felipe VI, on the other hand, is head of state by fertilization and cannot make political decisions without the endorsement of the competent Minister," Echenique responded on Twitter, where he also cited article 64 of the Spanish Constitution.
