MADRID, 3 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions, dependent on the Ministry of the Interior, has authorized this Friday the approach of seven ETA prisoners and there are only seven others left in prisons that are not Basque or Navarrese. In other words, 96% of the 178 ETA members who are serving a sentence in Spain are already doing so in these two autonomous communities.

As reported by Penitentiary Institutions, the ETA prisoners who will be approached in the first transfer reported in 2023 are: Dolores López Resina, Mikel San Sebastián Gaztelumendi, Luis Mariñelarena Garciandía, Óscar Barreras Díaz, Aitor Cotano Sinde, Jon Kepa Preciado Izarra and Jon Mirena San Pedro Blanco.

Dolores López Resina will leave the Logroño prison to go to one decided by the Basque Executive, which has penitentiary powers after the transfer of the matter made by the Government of Pedro Sánchez. She is sentenced to 102 years for the murder in 1992 with a car bomb of a couple - leaving two orphaned children - and a third fatality.

López Resina is serving another 186-year sentence for participating in the murder of Vicente Beti, victim of an attack in 1994 with the launch of grenades against the headquarters of the Military Government in Barcelona, as well as for the kidnappings of José María Aldaya and Cosme Delclaux.

Also going to the Basque Country will be Mikel San Sebastián Gaztelumendi, currently in Soria prison, who is sentenced to more than a thousand years for being responsible for the attack on the T-4 at the Madrid-Barajas airport, murdering Ecuadorian citizens Diego Armando Estacio and Carlos Alonso Palate.

Among the ETA members with close blood crimes is Luis Mariñelarena Garciandía, although in this case it will be to go from Pamplona to another Basque prison. He is convicted of being responsible for the PSE leader Fernando Buena and his bodyguard Jorge Diez in the year 2000.

Another of those transferred is Óscar Barreras Díaz -now in the Logroño prison-, who is serving a sentence for the attack that ended the life of Luis Andrés Samperio Sañudo, a national police officer from the Narcotics Group murdered by a shot to the neck in Bilbao in 1997.

The decision of the Ministry directed by Fernando Grande-Marlaska also affects three other prisoners who are currently in Dueñas (Palencia). The first is Aitor Cotano Sinde, who participated in an attack with a beer can loaded with explosives, although in the end the terrorist action was not carried out. He also planted a device against a PSE headquarters in Balmaseda in 2007.

Jon Kepa Preciado Izarra is also in the Dueñas jail, who tried to assassinate a deputy mayor of Portugalete, as well as other attacks against companies, the Treasury and the headquarters of Antena 3. This ETA member showed his break with the official line next to the left abertzale to pass to the ATA collective.

The last ETA member is Jon Mirena San Pedro Blanco is serving a 50-year sentence for participating in an attempted attack on a police officer in 1991 in Baracaldo.
