Garzón defends that the parties have a secondary role in the Yolanda Díaz project

MADRID, 1 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The federal coordinator of IU, Alberto Garzón, has stressed that the leadership of the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, is recognized by all the forces of United We Can and claims that the new project that he promotes is needed on the left, which needs "to improve many stuff".

In this sense, he has defended that it is necessary to join other social organizations and political formations that are not now in the confederal space, in addition to agreeing with Díaz that the parties are necessary but must have a secondary role when putting together this platform. , because it is the "sign of the times".

In statements to RNE, collected by Europa Press, he has defended that the work during these two years of the Minister of Labor to improve the lives of the social majorities opens a horizon to reconnect with society, in a context where "discredit" prevails and the "apathy" of citizens towards politics.

Therefore, the IU leader has asserted that it is precisely Díaz who embodies the "wishes" and "aspirations" of the left, that he must "improve many things."

In this way, it has reaffirmed the suitability of the vice president to lead the space of the left, which is "heterogeneous" and "complex" both in terms of political formations and social groups.

Consequently, he has supported that the most interesting thing for the future project promoted by Díaz is that this space has a "citizen protagonism", where the parties have a "secondary, supportive and ideological support" role.

A strategy that, in his opinion, is shared by the majority in the confederal space and, in this line, he has emphasized that it is necessary to "protect" Díaz and that this project "turn out well", given that there will be "obstacles" although it is convinced that they will be overcome.

Asked whether Podemos has internalized this position of support, Garzón stressed that the group has always publicly stated that they have recognized that Díaz holds the leadership and has his "commitment".

Therefore, he stressed that for Díaz's future platform "no one is left over" because it is a "space to add" and where Podemos is "necessary" with a "golden militancy" that has fought against "wind and tide".

However, he has insisted that it is necessary to expand to connect with people "disaffected" now with politics or who do not fit the "left or right" coordinates, but who "sympathize" with the initiative championed by the vice president.

"You have to understand the sign of the times", Garzón has broken down to expose the need to connect with the social bases from the "most useful and successful" formulas, such as this future platform that "is right" in bringing out the internal dynamics of the parties when focusing on its construction.

And it is that the parties are "necessary" and "fundamental" but now you have to be open and flexible to incorporate people who are now "out" because they do not understand the organic life of the formations.
