Gamarra asks the new Italian government for "stability" and that Europe can "trust" him

MADRID, 27 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP and spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, has asked the new Italian government on Tuesday for "stability" and that Europe can "trust him", since, as he has said, "everyone" is " play a lot" in the European project.

This was stated at a press conference in the Lower House, after the meeting of the Board of Spokespersons, when asked about the result of the elections in Italy on Sunday that outlines the leader of the far-right Brothers of Italy party, Giorgia Meloni, as Prime Minister.

Gamarra has admitted that the Popular Party would have "obviously liked" another result and added that what they ask of the new Italian Government "comes from the will of the Italians": "stability and that Europe can have confidence in them". "The European project is a project in which we all have a lot at stake", he emphasized.

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, -who ignored this matter at the Executive Committee meeting this Monday- has also spoken on this matter- to questions from journalists in the Balearic Islands. In his statements, he expressed his confidence that Italy "does not abandon the commitment to the euro and the European Union".

After assuring that it is necessary to "see what the new government does", the leader of the opposition has admitted that he hopes that the initial approaches "in favor of Europeanism and a cohesive Europe" will be "rectified".
