Feijóo: "The Government only wants there to be no rich in Spain, while the PP wants there to be no poor"

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has defended, this Tuesday in Palma, that the Government "will always have an ally in the PP for the great policies of the State".

In a conference organized by the Cercle d'Economia de Mallorca, the leader of the national PP has reflected on the current moment and has stressed that the national Executive "disqualifies, steals debates and even threatens some autonomous communities, but does not govern".

In addition to emphasizing that Spain is "at the tail end" of the economic recovery in Europe, Feijóo has made ugly that the Government of Pedro Sánchez "only wants that there are no rich people in Spain, while the PP only wants there to be no poor people."

For Feijoo, "good politics is a combination of ideology and reality." "Sometimes reality calls too many rigid ideas into question, but democracy requires flexibility, compromise and a good dose of humility, starting with politicians," he defended.

In this sense, the national leader of the 'popular' has defined the politician as "a permanent apprentice of reality" to adapt ideology to reality. "Only an arrogant politician denies reality and, furthermore, will try to disguise what he dislikes through endless tricks", he has stated.

In his words, the Government does "all of this": "Deny reality, label it catastrophic and launch a populist smokescreen to try to distract attention from reality."

Regarding the Executive of Pedro Sánchez, Feijóo has considered that it is "divided into a number of factions that strive to hide what is happening and a Spain that knows what is happening."

In his statement, the president of the national PP has indicated that "the picture" of the Spanish and Balearic economy is that "we are bottom of Europe in economic recovery." "Europe has recovered its GDP in 2021, but Spain will not do so in 2023. Surely it will not do so until 2024", he assured, while pointing to the increase in inflation, "which is not a consequence of the war, but it has worsened".

For the 'popular' leader, another national problem is the unemployment rate, which doubles that of the European Union. In addition, he has listed other "facts" such as the public debt, close to a billion euros, and the management of European funds: "We are in line."

Given this, Feijóo has recalled the pacts offered by the PP to deal with the energy and price crisis, both rejected by the Government: "Our proposals may be more or less accepted or convenient, but unfortunately the Government has said no".
