Feijóo offers Sánchez support to change course with some PGE adapted to the crisis and military spending

MADRID, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has offered this Tuesday to the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, the support of his party if he "rectifies" and changes the "course" because Spain is heading for a "deep economic crisis". For this reason, he has highlighted that the objective must be to modify this year's accounts and that the 2023 Budgets be adapted to the "slowdown" that is expected and to the military spending that Spain has committed to at the NATO Summit.

"Biden is gone, but inflation is still here," Feijóo started his speech before the leadership committees of the Popular Group that he has met in Congress to prepare the Debate on the State of the Nation that starts next week.

The head of the opposition has affirmed that the situation in Spain is "very complex" and has stressed that the facts show that the country is headed for "a deep economic crisis" while the Sánchez government "denies the evidence and looks the other way "as, as he has said, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero did in 2007.

Feijóo has pointed out that the Debate of the Nation, which has not been held since 2005, is a time for Sánchez to "reconsider his position and change his policies", starting by modifying the 2022 PGE to adapt it to the inflation situation and the increase defense spending.

"The weakness within the Government is one of the great risks of the Spanish economy. If the 2022 Budget no longer works and we propose to update it, it would be dramatic not to approve the PGE in our country", he declared, to insist that it is "essential" that the Executive "change course."

After the victory of the PP in the Andalusian elections, Feijóo criticized the fact that the Government's response has been "to react with more sanchismo", "doubling the ideological war against a fictitious enemy that only seeks division and confrontation in the face of moderation, stability and the unity that the Government of the Nation should guarantee".

Feijóo has criticized the agreement with Bildu in the Democratic Memory Law and has affirmed that Sánchez is now applying the "second version of his resistance manual" with a "gross pretense of appropriating the State and its institutions", citing what happened a week at Indra or the INE.
